In an effort to recover unexpected fuel costs we have elected at times in the past to apply a small fee to your bill. This fee reflects PAST fuel costs even though the main charges on your monthly or quarterly bill are for future services.
As you are well aware, we have seen considerable fluctuations in the cost of fuel over the past three years. At this point in time, as a reflection of current diesel market prices, we have discontinued the fuel fee.
However, we do anticipate that fuel prices will rise again over $3.00/gallon (diesel), it will be necessary for us to reinstall this Fuel Surcharge.
As a company, we have elected not to use a floating scale for fuel increase. We fill this can sometimes result in an overstatement of expense to our customers. Therefore the method we use to determine our fuel surcharge is solely based on the amount the cost exceeds budgeted fuel expenses, by type of service.
Residential customers will generally see this as a set amount each quarter. Commercial customers and temporary service customers will receive this as a percentage your monthly bill for service (travel) related costs. This means, we do not charge it against rental fees, container maintenance fees, or fees that do not involve the volume of waste collected or expense of travel. These fees are charged to all customers and are non-negotiable for fairness to all customers.
