On May 19th, the Fort Collins City Council voted to enact changes to City Code that will drastically affect Waste and Recycling services . These changes will be effective for all services billed for September 1, 2009 onward. You will immediately see changes to your cost for service for that period forward.
GSI has made much effort of the past few years to keep all customers informed of the potential changes and impacts through our quarterly newletter and website. While the city cannot tell us exactly how much to charge, they can control how our pricing is determined. At this point, we are required to implement the changes to our PRICING structures based on the new formula requirements found in the City Council Ordinance.
While we agree with the goals of these changes, we do not agree with the timing or method of implementation, added expense to customers and haulers that result from the changes, the overall financial impacts of this change, and lack of concern for the haulers and larger families shown , by supporters of this ordinance.
